Understanding political party registration
An association or body of individual Indian citizens intending to register as a political party may apply to the Election Commission of India in accordance with Section 29A of the Representation of the People Act, 1951.
How we assist
We provide party formation guidance, constitutional drafting support, application preparation, and document organisation. Registration decisions rest entirely with the ECI.
Before you apply
Plan the proposed party’s name, registered office, governing constitution, office bearers, membership and other particulars required by current guidelines.
Registration is not recognition
Registration as a political party is different from recognition as a state or national party. Recognition is subject to separate electoral criteria.
Official guidance
For the most reliable, up-to-date requirements, consult the Election Commission of India’s political party registration information.
